Investors In People

Just as our people appreciate how the CAA’s commitment to learning and development relates to them as individuals, so too as an organisation can we see the genuine benefits to be gained from Investors In People. Far from simply using it as a ‘badge’ of corporate responsibility, we believe that:

The accreditation process helps to ensure our values and guiding principles are placed at the heart of business strategy and govern the way everyone operates and behaves.

It supports our ‘one CAA’ approach by providing common processes which help us to meet our employees’ learning and development needs.

It secures consistency in the application of our Performance Management processes.

It ensures that individual learning and development needs are identified and addressed.

It identifies opportunities for continuous development.

It ensures that we get value for money from our considerable investment in learning and development.

We obtained our first whole-organisation accreditation in 2005, having gained accreditation over previous years for separate parts of the organisation. The process is on-going as we seek to address areas for development and build on our successes. We were successfully re-accredited as an Investor In People in December 2008.

Some of the findings of our latest report:

‘Many people described the CAA as a great place to work and a good employer. It is clear that people have a passion and enthusiasm for what they do and are proud of their achievements’.

‘People share a common desire to continuously improve how they do things and feel they play an important part in helping to preserve the excellent safety record in the industry. This is, they feel, in great part due to the high quality and professionalism of everyone who works in the organisation, whether technical or non-technical’.

We are delighted by this overview but remain committed to addressing any areas which have been identified as requiring more input.
