This is an exciting new role within the External Relations team of our Communications Department in London that will play a pivotal role in modernising UK airspace. As part of our new process for considering applications to changes to UK airspace, we are developing an online portal which will hold all relevant information on applications, including consultations run by those proposing the change.
You will be responsible for helping to develop and run this portal which will be the prime source of information for all those involved or affected. It, will present a wide range of information, in an accessible format, adhering to best practice engagement principles. The portal must be user-friendly for both expert and non-expert audiences, the aviation industry and local communities and you’ll be responsible for helping make sure these stakeholders understand the information and can navigate the portal.
In this role, you’ll be responsible for supporting those seeking an airspace change to include their information on the portal and setting up consultations (using the Citizen Space system); wider portal content management; and moderation of responses to consultations.
This role will work closely with our Airspace Stakeholder Engagement Manager and will have the opportunity to work on wider communications opportunities as appropriate.
Airspace is one of the UK’s main infrastructure assets and this position will play a key role in making sure it is developed sustainably and efficiently, while effectively involving all those with a part to play in the decisions on how it develops.
Engaging with the organisations who propose airspace changes (e.g. airports, air traffic control bodies) will be critical, so good stakeholder management is pivotal to your success in this role.
You should have a successful background in external communications, you do not need to have come from an aviation background although this would be beneficial. If you have experience of dealing with public consultations, this would be advantageous.
As you’ll be responsible for managing the portal and responding to any technical issues, we are after a fast-learner who can quickly get up to speed with the IT systems (Umbraco and Citizen Space) that underpin the portal. Full training on these systems will be provided. The new system is due to launch later this year so involvement with this will be key.

Information provided electronically by users of CAA's ATS will be utilised by CAA, and shared with its contracted agents (Penna and Government Recruitment Services), and representatives for the purpose of recruiting and hiring suitable candidates for employment by the CAA.
Types of Information
CAA's ATS maintains personal information that you voluntarily submit electronically on one or more secured servers. The CAA will delete all personal information associated with unsuccessful applications after two years following an unsuccessful application. If your application results in an offer, CAA retain your personal information for the duration of our relationship with you, following which condensed employee file details are kept for 7 years. Thereafter, personal details (including full name, years of service, date and reason for leaving) are kept for a period of 30 years to enable CAA to provide information for referencing requests.
Accuracy of Information
You are responsible for ensuring that all information submitted by you and contained within the ATS is accurate, complete, and up-to-date. Knowingly submitting inaccurate, false, or misleading information may make you ineligible for consideration for employment opportunities, and in some cases where CAA rely upon such information, may lead to termination of employment with CAA. CAA takes all reasonable steps to ensure that information collected within the ATS by its employees and representatives is correct, however, CAA will rely upon you to access the ATS periodically to update or verify your personal information and to confirm your willingness to receive communications from CAA.
Withdrawing from Participation
Participants in CAA's ATS should contact CAA via email directed to: FOI.firstname.lastname@example.org. Indicating whether they wish to withdraw from a particular competition or alternatively, from all participation in the ATS. Further rights as a data subject can be found here. Contact details of the CAA's Data Protection Officer can be found here. You have a right to complain to the ICO about the CAA's processing of personal data.
Acceptance of the Data Protection Agreement
In order to submit an application, you must consent to the above Data Protection Agreement. You may withdraw your consent at any time.
